The Drovers' Trail: Fort William - Knoydart - Skye
| Accommodation |
|
Baggage Transfer |
Based on an old Drovers' trail, this trek takes you into some of the most remote and magnificent areas in the Western Highlands. Of all our treks, this one scores highly for variety, hospitality and spectacular scenery away from it all.
You start from Fort William and finish on the Isle of Skye, thus making it an ideal add-on trek to the West Highland Way. You can return on the famous West Highland Line from Mallaig.
|
Whilst there is some unavoidable tarmac walking in one section,
this is compensated by the remoteness and truly stunning scenery.
This is a truly spectacular hike away from it all and as much a cultural experience as a walking one.
Among the highlights are a charter boat on Loch Hourn, especially arranged to take you to the isolated accommodation on the lochside, a visit to some Pictish Brochs, abundant wildlife and truly spectacular scenery. A rest day is included in this remote area when you have the option of hill walking nearby or a boat trip for a day's walking in the Knoydart wilderness.
